What is a Good Teacher? Where to find your Guru? – Last Part
My last memorable moment. Came when we had to perform a full day ritual. Which was designed by our main instructor. The idea was not to talk the whole day with anyone, too fast the whole day. And it went as far as we were not allowed to look into anyone’s eyes because in this way we are also communicating. On top of that, we got a lemon. Into which we were supposed to infuse all our bad karma. Or bad experiences, bad relations if we had some animosity, words, someone, etcetera.
Essentially putting everything inside of this fruit. Then at the end of the day, we should perform a meditation and a small ritual. At the end of the meditation we were supposed to cut the lemon in a small ritual into four pieces and then toss them into all the directions together with all the bad karma, emotions, experiences, traits, et cetera.
After avoiding all serene beings throughout the day, I remember walking on the beach looking for a stone with which I would cut the lime and after some searching that became tense at times, as there were a lot of stray dogs on the Beach, which is very common in
First I relaxed, closed my eyes to meditate according to the ritual. After some time in meditation focusing on transmitting all the negative energy into the line, my mind became filled with a lot of images. All these were images of my conflicts, disagreements, fears, struggles, desires and pains. Many from the distant past, but also a few experienced in the month that I have spent in the course.
It was actually through these images that I was finally able to recognize my guru. He was always there, constantly present, constantly guiding me. Even though I always misunderstood his teachings and always tried to go against his advice. You see, the cup is never half full or half empty. It is always 1 cup. It is never yin or yang only. It is always yin and Yang together. There is no light without darkness, nor darkness without light.
What is required is to create a balance between these two forces, not to avoid or deny a part of them. Especially if it’s a part that we don’t like. That is hard to look upon. But it is still us who we are looking at. The positive and the negative aspects are part of us. They are part of our being, of our essence. We cannot deny who we really are, for we are both of these pieces. Hence, instead of trying to get rid of aspects we might not necessarily like about us, wishing them away so to speak will simply not work.
Instead we need to embrace them and work on them to improve. It is about accepting ourselves for who we are, with all our shortcomings, and integrating them into our daily life. Only in this way can we grow, as individuals and as a society. Following this process until its completion shall also allow us to free ourselves from our base level desires.
It was after the flood of all these images and thoughts that I. We gave you consciousness. And with full determination, I sliced lemon. Into the four parts. But instead of tossing them into all the sides, I squeezed them into a cup and drank it. To This day, it was one of the sweetest. Flavours I ever drank. So, after reading until here, who do you think is my guru? Can we help you find yours`? Or did you find yours already?
